“What’s Up, Doctopher?” is a free occasional newsletter. To gain access to bonus content including BROMAs, TOMAs, travel updates, AMAs, What Makes this Book Great?, the DJCPR series, and a monthly open thread where you can interact with the Tangentially Speaking community, please consider becoming a paid subscriber for $5/month or $50/year — less than a buck a week! (This month’s discussion is a great one: What’s the best bad thing that’s ever happened to you?) If you’ve already subscribed, much obliged. If you’d like to join the party but can’t afford it right now, just let me know by replying to this email and we’ll hook you up.
OK, so I’m late. It’s the middle of the month, and I’m sending out this monthly newsletter that’s supposed to go out in the first few days. It’s shaping up to be that kind of month though, isn’t it? Since we last touched base, I’ve been to LA to visit my mom for my birthday, then to Spain to tie up some loose ends from my previous life as an expat in Barcelona. Now I’m back in Crestone, where it’s four seasons in one hour. (Spring is MOODY here!) We got the roof on the new room and now we’re starting to think about a guest cabin in the trees behind the wood pile. Lots going on out here on the life-boat. Meanwhile, there’s a storm a-brewing and the need for a safe haven seems to get more urgent by the day.
On my visit to LA, my mom reminded me to mention all the shirts, hoodies, stickers, and beer coozies she’s got carefully organized in her little shed in the back yard. Stock up for the summer! Order while supplies last! Free shipping in the US! Get the whole set! All proceeds go to Julie.
If you use Amazon, please consider using this link (on a web browser) so that a little of what you spend will bounce back to support the podcast.
And if you’re looking for a soul-soothing adventure, consider joining us in Montana this summer, from June 27th to July 2nd at the Becoming Uncivilized/Budokon gathering. Lots of nature, good people, good food, cool dogs, movement, deep thought, bonfires under the stars. What life should be like all the time. Feel free to drop me a line with any questions or thoughts. I hope you’re doing great, surrounded by people you love and trust. After all, that’s the best way — maybe the only way — to prepare for whatever’s coming our way.
