Hey all. It’s a new month. After a quick trip to Spain, I’m back in the saddle, so I’ll be pestering you regularly again. Here’s an idea for this month’s open thread/discussion: What’s the best bad thing that’s ever happened to you? In other words, an experience that seemed horrible at the time, but when you look back at it now, you realize was actually a great gift? Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on this one.

I think this might be the best open thread ever. These are great!
As a result of ageism, politics, and my own stupidity I was fired from a university I had worked at for 47 years. I sued,but my lawyer will not let me discuss the results. Let me just say that it enabled me to live in an assisted living home that costs $5,500 per month.
