Nice to hear from Erin, and I personally like the idea of trying to live with a high degree of uncertainty. This is something I first learned from reading the books by Whitley Strieber, the man who popularized alien abductions with his book Communion; he too has tried to live with his anomalous experiences while refraining from putting them into some easy-to-digest folder. Are they space visitors, elementals, Jungian archetypes or spirits of the death? Who knows, maybe all of the above, maybe neither.

PS: You suck so much at self promotion, I bet you don't even remember Erin was the editor of one of the two e-books you released some years ago (Tangentially Speaking, Talking Sex). Do you still offer those to new Substack subscribers? 🧐🤭

You're right. One of several things I suck at. But here's what I DO remember: The amazing cover art by a very talented illustrator down Mexico way that has me looking like a 70s porn star (my inner self, for sure). I think my mom still has some in the garage, but I'll have to ask.

You can always state that you want to be enbalmed looking like that in your last will and testament 😎

Hey, there Chris. This conversation got me thinking a lot about all the distractions that we face these days. How do you feel about creating and sharing media that could be considered part of that distraction? I’m a photographer and I love creating and sharing photos on social media, but the last thing I want to do is provide more distractions for people to navigate in their lives.

Coincidentally, I just posted a mini-ROMA where I talk about that very conundrum.

Oh nice lol I’ll check it out. Also, for the record I definitely don’t consider your podcast a distraction. Especially since it’s something that I intentionally seek out.

I agree with what you say about sex workers doing psychotherapy. As a personal trainer, I felt the same. Clients would tell me about their family and relationship issues and childhood traumas. I've had clients crying during sessions, or telling me their confessions of infidelity. Even as a school teacher, I experienced situations in which I felt I was doing that. It is crazy. Sometimes what people need is to be listened to, and the stigma that comes with going to a psychologist holds them back.
