I often avoid having in depth conversations with my little cousins because I feel like I don't want to kill their optimism. Chris did a good job here on not trying to prove his more negative views too much
Just got to the point where you ask when was the last time the World got together to do a good thing for the planet. I feel when chlorofluorocarbons were banned and companies stopped using them in refrigerators and other stuff, which eventually helped close the hole in the ozone layer, that was one rare example of effective international cooperation.
Now, it's very possible the reason THAT worked is because it wasn't that difficult to implement measures to switch to other forms of refrigeration. Whereas if tomorrow all forms of plastic got banned, it would be impossible to switch to greener solutions.
Hey Chris, I’m still listening to your conversation with David. But I think what you were trying to say about him is that he was born what I call an old soul. I used to work Labor and Delivery as a nurse. I swear, some babies (not many) would come out from their mama and look at you and you just knew they were wiser than most. Like they had been in the world before. It was surreal but I tell you they are out there!
I’m enjoying your podcast so much! Thanks for your work on Substack!
I'm 35 with a PhD and David is already way smarter than I am
