Teacher, seeker, musician, traveler, visionary, professor, husband, father, scholar…. Lama Thupten is all these and more. I was lucky enough to hang out with him a bit recently here in Crestone, where he was visiting the Yeshe Khorlo retreat center.
His Excellency's (imo the best translation for "Rinpoche") interpretation that the expansion of the universe "means ... this universe is moving toward its highest potential of expansion" might be the oddest I've ever heard.
The opening, song, story about the song, and guest/topic encompass what I love about this podcast!!!
Listening to your podcast always brings something new and beautiful into my life that makes me think. Just when I think I'm living a boring life, caught up in the day-to-day mundane details of Utah suburban life, I am transported on a mini-trip for a short time through your guests and stories.
I like the music that you recommended. The Genghis Blues album reminds me of the band Yat-Kha. They’re a throat singing band out of Mongolia. I’ve discover a lot of good music by listening to this podcast. Thanks!
I was startled awake this morning at 5:15 by a bright light and the house being shaken by thunder. I decided to get up early to tend to our anxious dog. I got dressed and glanced at my phone. I was excited to see this episode had come out while I was sleeping. I am listening with a cup of coffee as a heavy thunderstorm rages outside. And the subject matter couldn't match the setting in which I find myself any better. Thank you for the good morning!
My favorite episode of 2024 so far. Hope Lama Thupten can become a regular guest.
Eternity
He who binds to himself a joy
Does the winged life destroy
He who kisses the joy as it flies
Lives in eternity's sunrise
