This was originally scheduled to be just a “catch-up call,” but as soon as we started talking, I knew the conversation was going to be interesting and fun, so why not invite you guys to sit in? Daniele is one of the deepest, kindest, most thoughtful guys around. He’s an author of several books, a university professor, and the host of the History on Fire podcast, where he unpacks historical figures and events, both known and obscure, with his unique insight and narrative skills. Here’s the episode he mentions at the end, about one of his favorite historical figures, Ikkyu Sojun, who found enlightenment in debauchery. As William Blake put it, “The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom.” Sometimes, at least, that’s where you’ll find it.
Here’s that Amazon link, as promised. Follow here to keep up with what’s happening in Crestone.
