Tom Murphy is a recovering astrophysicist. After spending the first part of his life learning the language of physics and mathematics, Tom started hearing a deeper message concerning our responsibility to the planet. Tom’s insights into the interconnectedness of all things and the absurdity of dividing our reality into animate and inanimate made it impossible for him to maintain the narrow focus required by academia, which led to a reconfiguring of his life and career. He quit “Team Science” and joined “Team Life.” You can read Tom’s thoughts at his blog, Do the Math (Don’t worry, it’s not primarily about math!). This post, in particular, explains a lot of who Tom is and his path to where he is now.
