I finally watched Red Rocket last night and holy was it incredible! I was blown away by Simons performance and the writing was brilliant and hilarious. It's been a long time since I've seen such a great film. And to follow it with this candid conversation has been a real treat. I'll admit I got a little emotional when Simon was telling Chris how much he had influenced his way of thinking, because I really relate to him on that. Then to hear that Simon may just be passing along that knowledge, well its a beautiful thing.
I'm happy Simon is enjoying this moment of success right when he was no longer looking for it. Kind of like when Travolta had his career reborn thanks to Pulp Fiction --although therein lies a cautionary tale, so here's hoping Simon doesn't end up with his own version of Battlefield Earth.
