Hey all. I’m just back from a quick trip to Spain, which was nothing like what most people think of when they think of “a trip to Spain.” This was more about painfully abbreviated visits with old friends, bureaucratic insanity and jet lag than it was about leisurely lunches, slightly chilled red wine, and paella.
It’s a strange thing to have lived one’s life in discreet eras in specific locations, as I have. It means that visiting a certain place takes me back in time. Walking around Barcelona is, for me, like being transported to my thirties and forties. Bangkok and Mexico take me to pockets in my twenties. Alaska beams me right to the summers of 1983 and ‘84. The memories are all bunched together like pins on a map. The feeling is surreal, strange, poignant.
Anyway, I’m glad to be back in Crestone (in my early sixties!), where the sky can’t decide whether it’s June or January. Dump a foot of snow Monday night and watch it melt in Tuesday’s warmth. Rinse, repeat. March madness, indeed!
We still have a few spots left for the Budokon Sex at Dawn retreat this summer. Judging by the folks who are already confirmed, it’s already clear that this is going to be a really special group of people. If you’re feeling that a sense of meaningful community is a missing nutrient in your life, I hope you’ll consider joining us. It’s going to be a festival of mind, body, and spirit. Plus, Montana in June? Hell yeah!
