Well here we are, smack dab in interesting times. I threw up (pun intended) some undigested thoughts (sorry) about the election a few days ago, and the post got more views than I’ve received in a blue moon. Does that mean I should be commenting on politics more often? Or does it just mean there’s a large, eager audience for anything that could help make sense of our historical moment? No idea, but as usual, you can count on me to ignore most avenues toward “success” in favor of the freedom to just mutter about whatever’s on my mind. Better to understand the value of something like intellectual freedom than to ponder its price, I guess. My sincere gratitude goes out to supporters of this endeavor for allowing me that luxury, above which there is no other. Oh look, there’s a subscribe button!
The big Carsie in Crestone event got cancelled when Winter Storm Anya blasted the state with one of the worst snowfalls in memory. I’m not kidding: “Winter Storm Anya.” WTF? Carsie’s show in Durango was cancelled, and leaving Denver in a rear-wheel drive rental seemed like a bad idea, since she had two shows there and in Boulder. Better to call it off, for sure. Another bummer in a week of bummers.
Anyway, remember the parable of the monk I mentioned in a recent podcast. When you’re feeling down about the state of the world, just remember that we can never know how things will turn out until they do. And even then, we can’t see over the horizon. And if it’s true that we need to hit rock bottom before bouncing back, I guess downward is the right direction. Hold on!

I was so looking forward to hanging with the Crestone crew and friends last weekend. I appreciate your thoughts on the events of the election. And we will have to plan a get together soon. Hugs from Portland.
I know that fireplace! That's Zuki's house! I love Crestone, I've met some of the most far out people there ❤️
