Hey all. Happy winter to you. I hope you are in a cozy spot. Lots going on around here. Anya has been writing for the local paper for a couple of years, so when the board of directors suddenly announced that The Crestone Eagle was going out of business last month, we took it kind of personally. So we got together with some local folks and basically took over the board to try to save the paper. Now I find myself on my first board of directors — a thankless, unpaid position if ever there was one. But Crestone needs a paper, damnit! So while the world crumbles, we’re doing what we can locally. Other folks are donating their time chopping firewood for strangers or putting together free Thanksgiving dinner for anyone and everyone. One of the great joys of living in such a small community is that you can actually change things and help people directly.
Speaking of which, Anya helped me directly by redesigning my website, which was turning into a Wordpress monster. Now it’s lean and as tight as my orange pants! (If you check out the site, you’ll know what I mean.) Please take a look and let us know what you think (and report any bugs or weirdnesses you encounter). We’ve gone with free shipping on everything (in the US) and made things as cheap as possible. Some shirts are only $5, including shipping. Send Mom to the Post Office! Also, if you’re buying stuff on Amazon (who isn’t?), don’t forget to use our Amazon link to bounce some of that Bezos money back this-a-way.
As a way of eliminating trolls and trouble-makers from messing up the vibe, I’ve decided to take it most of what I post on Substack behind the pay-wall. But not to worry, everyone’s welcome. If you want full access but can’t afford it, just let me know and we’ll hook you up. It all works out in the end.
I hope you’re getting lots of sleep and enjoying these long nights (with apologies to you Aussies!).
CPR
Oh wow-your new website is an amazing upgrade! Well done to Anya :)
As an Aussie, am I out of the loop? Why apologies to us? 🤣 Or is it because of our bad press around freedom of information and a silly ABC boss?
Great to see you're running shit in Crestone, Chris. Won't be long before you put up your own tower I'm sure 😜
