The other day I was standing in the morning sun, talking on the phone with our neighbor, Royal Lynn, and this guy popped up like a periscope out of the rock pile a few feet away. He hung out there for a minute or two, seemingly as curious about my conversation as I was about him. The next morning, I watched him try to hunt some chipmunks under the bird feeder. He hasn’t figured it out. The chipmunks didn’t seem to take this young weasel very seriously.
In other news, the weather’s putting on a show. Saw rainbows three consecutive days last week. We finally got the roof on the sun-and-mud-room-to-be. And the big event on the Crestone calendar (the Crestone Energy Fair), is coming up in less than two weeks. If you’ll be anywhere near the San Luis Valley in mid-September, you should stop by. Good friend of the podcast, Lloyd Kahn is a headline speaker. Check out Lloyd’s Substack to get a sense of what an awesome dude he is (or check out my conversation with him here).

I hope your Labor Day is labor-less and that the skies are showing their color wherever you are.

I enjoyed your podcast with Cameron Shayne (Part 1 & 2) thanks for talking with him. Interesting and thought provoking. Especially the part about living in/with Willful Simplicity. I have been striving and will still be for a long time to live simply and just be content. What a thought! At the same time, I long to travel and meet new people. I believe one can do both. Love the weasel photo! We had one pop up near our A-frame last Winter and my kitty about had a heart attack. They are great for keeping mice down. Enjoy the season!
Love the weasel pic-we don’t have those here in NC. Also love that you share your house updates- it’s coming along nicely and it’s inspiring me to look around and see what I can update on my small budget.
