“What’s Up, Doctopher?” is a free monthly newsletter. To gain access to bonus content including BROMAs, TOMAs, travel updates, AMAs, What Makes this Book Great?, the DJCPR series, and a monthly open thread where you can interact with the Tangentially Speaking community (this month’s is open to everyone, and we’re talking about what is sacred and what “sacred” is). Please consider becoming a paid subscriber for $5/month or $50/year (which is less than a buck a week!). If you’ve already subscribed, much obliged.
Greetings from Budokon Central, a few miles outside Whitefish, MT. We had a fantastic time with a great group of people again this year. Everyone who showed up really SHOWED UP. The conversations were vulnerable, smart, revealing, and I hope, healing. I know they were for me. In addition to the awesome vibe, add great food, clean Montana air (no fires at the moment), funny dogs running around, martial arts training, dance and movement, and the occasional bonfire. I hope you’ll consider joining us next year.
We stayed on at Budokon so that Anya and Nadia could attend a week-long yoga teacher training course, which provided Cameron Shayne and me some time to consider writing a book together. When I have a chance, I’ll edit some of our conversations into a podcast episode or two so you can get a sense of what we have in mind for that and maybe offer some ideas and guidance for us as we work on that.
We’ll be leaving here this weekend, headed into the wilds of Idaho. (Any tips on the Lolo Motorway?) There are some spots north of Stanley we love, so we’ll be back there for a while, til we hear the mosquitos situation is tolerable in Crestone. No podcast for a week or two. Gonna take a little vacation.
I hope you’re doing fine and did something to celebrate our enigmatic, fading “independence.” It would be wonderful to celebrate independence from anti-human corporate agendas, but it’s a tad early for that!

Have you been through gold bug hot springs? I never have but a lot of my college roommates thought it was cool.
