Lots going on here at Rancho Relaxo. We’re trying to get our construction projects buttoned up before the cold hits, so that’s a bit of pressure. Both rooms are closed in at this point, so it’s all about getting the walls done and then putting down the wood flooring in the big room.
We’re preparing for the biggest event that happens here every year, the Crestone Energy Fair. Anya is directing the event this year, so she’s firing on all cylinders. Friend of the podcast, Lloyd Kahn will be here again this year, as well as lots of other fascinating speakers, builders, musicians and artists. If you’re in the neighborhood, stop by!
I rarely agree to be interviewed for documentaries these days. It’s one of those things that used to seem like a lot of fun that now just feels like a hassle. (Kind of like flying.) Maybe the ego-gratification used to compensate for the tedium of sitting in one place for hours trying to be articulate while people shuffle around adjusting cameras and microphones and interrupting every time a plane flies over or the light changes — but those days are long gone. So when a guy named Chad reached out to me a few months ago about being in his film, I sent him a list of conditions that I thought would take me off his list. But damnit, he showed up yesterday, and I spent three hours on a stool answering questions about primate penises and prehistoric promiscuity. At one point, it got so hot that I had to take off my pants. I hope it’s a good film, cause it may well be my last!

Awesome, let’s get those pants back on.
I remember seeing you interviewed on Marriage 2.0. A suprise!
Thanks for sharing your reflections on being a semi-retired semi-famous author. I really enjoy them. I reflect on them often when considering my own ambitions and what to do with them (in my 30s).
