I just dropped the big news in episode 552, but I’ll repeat it here: Anya and I are buying a little house (850sf) in Crestone. Why pay rent to someone else if we can pay ourselves? The idea is to use this as a launch pad for the “life-boat project,” which will take at least a year or two. Also, I can get my hands dirty (literally) with smaller renovation projects on this place before jumping into the deep end, trying to build a whole house (with a little help from my friends). This wasn’t part of the plan, and the whole thing kind of feels like an impulse purchase of a Snickers bar while waiting to pay for the groceries. We’ll see. But with savings accounts offering about 3% (at best) and inflation running around 8%, the bank doesn’t seem like a great place to keep money. We close on Friday, the 13th. Good luck? Bad luck? We’ll see.
In other news, I was recently a guest on my friend Bowen’s podcast. He’s a smart guy who’s interested in the challenges faced by men these days.
I’ve also finally gotten around to putting together a list of curated episodes to help new listeners get their bearings (or veterans to delve into the archives). With over 500 episodes in the can, it can be a bit overwhelming to decide what to listen to next!
I’ve got some fun stuff planned for 2023, including a book club, “director’s cut” audio of Sex at Dawn, and a list I’m working on right now of things I wish I were cooler about. Big year coming up!

As always, thanks for being part of this journey.

So stoked for you two and the beginnings of the lifeboat!
Thanks for the plug of our conversation—that continues to feed my thinking, in particular about 'coming out' and also about how sexual energy relates to creative energy. I've been digging some of what Zoë Kors (Radical Intimacy) and Liz Goldwyn (Sex, Health, and Consciousness) have to say on that connection—and, I'm looking for more input. My feeling is that the opening of the boundary that most of us (myself included) still have around sharing anything close to sexual energy with "others" outside a monogamous relationship is a closure that inhibits creative energy. Not that we necessarily have to have sex with +1 to be more creative, but that loosening that boundary, even incrementally, will be fruitful.
I've listened to most of your podcasts over the years but have stayed on the fringes. Even though most of what you talk about resonates with me, I am older (68 in a few weeks) than much of your audience. The Jan. 6 repost of the musician that plays for the dying really struck home as it was just 5 days after I sat in the room with my mom as she passed on Jan.1. Your project in Crestone sounds great and seems poignant since my mom grew up in Olney Springs, CO a few hours away. I've travelled that area of Colorado a lot on motorcycles in my earlier days but live in Arkansas now. Good luck and I look forward to learning more about the Crestone project.
