Hey all.
I’m in LA to celebrate my mom’s 84th birthday. You can celebrate with her by ordering some signed books, t-shirts, beer coozies, stickers, and other stuff that’s stacked up in her garage here. Since I’ve been feeling under the weather (though increasingly less under), we decided not to do any meetups on #vanthropology2022. It’s not so much that the meetups wore me down, as the fact that we’d have to go into cities to do them, and the cities bring me down. Being out in the woods/desert in the van is so relaxing, but driving into a city is just a bummer.
For example, we spent the last week meandering down route 395 on the east side of the Sierras. Five kinds of beautiful. We went from a night at the Tavertine hot springs, to a night at 10,000 feet over Death Valley, near groves of bristlecone pines, the oldest living things on earth, to camping next to a prehistoric waterfall, to an empty campground among Douglass Fir trees and curious bears about 90 minutes north of LA.
Then we drove into the heart of darkness.
Holy shit! Going from all that chilling to the insanity that is LA really shows you how ill-suited the human spirit is for the chaos, aggression, and high-anxiety of city life (my spirit, at any rate). So we’re here to give Mom a hug and we’ll be on our way to the red rocks and yellow aspens of southern Utah for a month. As of November, we’ll be in Crestone, CO for the winter, so if you get a hankering to visit that little slice of Tibetan weirdness, let us know and we’ll meet you for a matcha latte at the Elephant Cloud.
I decided to open up this month’s open thread to all subscribers — paid or not. Drop in and say hi, and let us know what’s going on in your world. Much love to you all. Hope to see you down the road.

Just listened to you on Tao Raspoli's podcast and just want to add weight to Anya's description of your male fans haha. Absolutely nailed me. The last few years has seen me finally embracing both sides of my personality. And what's more, the best thing is discovering those in the masculine circles I hang around don't actually care that I'm a little bit weird and into what would be considered feminine things. Turns out, it was all in my head.
Did you know that the international convention of Psychedelic Science will he held in Denver next year? What a chance to get some podcasts.
