You’ve got a good ear. I’ve got a lot of great memories sitting around with my grandfather and cousins playing Kristofferson songs and the like. So that definitely formed my musical sensibilities.
I’ve tried doing another career. But always seems to be the job that made me grow each day. Sharing conversations about life, using my skill of geometry to layer or underlay hair, being a supportive community member, and a gosh darn friend that listens. Plus an amazing shampoo and blowdry.
It’s a career that changed me and makes me a better person.
It’s really hard to step away when you have plans and other responsibilities that rely on your income. That’s the tough part I think. So you almost have to work extra hard at night after the full time job to set yourself up to escape. Even then though, your job both drains and fuels your efforts to escape.
I work a job where I reconcile financial data for insurance companies which heavily crushes my soul. In that, I find I’m doubly motivated to pursue those things which fill and expand my soul. But time is the greatest asset and barrier there. Time and my attention span I suppose haha.
Great podcast. I love when you said, “When life gets hard, I’ve been in this spot before.” Also, my fiance literally told me today that “life gives you what you can handle.”
That song took a lot from Kris Kristofferson. Sounded like Me & Bobby McGhee. Good to hear the echo.
